Gimme many ONDE ONDE..
i want to make ondeh ondeh..

this is the closest pic i can get from the net ... from makansutra... the ones my mum used to make has brown skin.. which looks really pretty with the white grated coconut..
i used to remember my mum making them when i was young.. that explains my size last time.. I LOVE THEM... the fresh ones when they are still hot after you boil it.. fresh..and then she will put it into those styrofoam boxes for me as we go out ... (just like the pic really!) those were nostalgic times..
the smell as you rolled them in grated coconut..mmm..
then when you bite into one.. the glutinous rice skin clings to your teeth as the gula melaka (brown sugar) just oozes out.. this thick black liquid..the sweetness and the aroma just fills your mouth.. must be gula melaka.. its not as sweet as white sugar but twice as aromatic.. the oozing part is crucial.. good ones oozes out.. some others remain in solid form..
the ones with coconut filling are like imitation goods to me..
mmmmmmm.... definitely one of my favourite desserts..
only problem is.. without practice... my mum forgets how to make it... how is it possible? seriously? she is just being mean to me as usual..
thats it.. I.. ME... I am making it soon..
this is a small sidetrack from the usual bread and buns.. hahaha.. but still its dessert ...
so exciting leh... shall blog the process... its julia childhood dish we are talking about..
